Les Giersch: 36 Years of Dedication at Lyons & Hohl

After nearly four decades, we are honored to celebrate the incredible career of Les Giersch, a Professional Land Surveyor and the head of our Survey Department, as he embarks on a well-deserved retirement. Les has been a cornerstone of Lyons & Hohl’s success, contributing not only his technical expertise but also his unwavering dedication to our mission.

When Les began his journey with us 36 years ago, the tools of the trade looked much different than they do today. Surveying was a labor-intensive process, relying on Electronic Distance Measurement tools, handwritten calculations, and countless hours of meticulous work. Over the years, Les not only adapted to advancements in technology but became a driving force in integrating GPS systems and other innovations into our equipment and processes.

His vision and leadership helped position Lyons & Hohl at the forefront of modern surveying techniques, ensuring accuracy and efficiency on every project. Beyond his technical expertise, Les played a vital role in training and mentoring our survey staff, ensuring the next generation of professionals was well-prepared for the evolving demands of the industry.

Les was more than a surveyor—he was a constant presence on our job sites, working closely with crews to ensure projects ran smoothly and efficiently. His witty banter and good humor lightened long days and made him a beloved figure among his colleagues. Les’s ability to combine precision with personality made him an indispensable part of the Lyons & Hohl family.

As Les retires, we also extend our gratitude to his wife, who has been a steady support throughout his career. We know the countless hours Les spent with us often came at the expense of time at home, and we are deeply thankful for her understanding and generosity in sharing him with us.

While we will deeply miss Les’s expertise and camaraderie, we are excited for him and his wife as they embark on this new chapter of their lives together. Retirement is not just a farewell—it’s the beginning of new adventures, and we wish them nothing but joy and fulfillment in the years to come.

To Les, thank you for your 36 years of dedication, innovation, and friendship. Your legacy will remain a part of Lyons & Hohl for years to come, and your impact will not be forgotten. We wish you all the best in your retirement—you’ve earned it!
